Dr. Robert Bell - Distinguished Fellow at the CSDS and former US Defence Advisor at NATO
Dr. Robert Bell has joined the CSDS after a career that included assignments as President Obama’s appointee as the U.S. Defense Advisor at NATO, President Clinton’s appointee as a NATO Assistant Secretary General, President Clinton’s NSC Senior Director for Defense Policy and Arms Control, and 18 years on Capitol Hill. Dr. Bell has a BS from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a MA and PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He is currently also a Distinguished Professor of the Practice at Georgia Tech. Robert is fluent in French and speaks conversational Danish.
Ruth Bajada – Head of the United States and Canada Division at the EEAS
Ruth Bajada is a diplomat at the European External Action Service, leading the United States and Canada Division at the EEAS. She started her career with the European Union Institutions in 2002 working at the European Parliament in the Protocol section followed by the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union as Desk Officer on Employment, Social Affairs and Gender Equality followed by a five year stint as analyst at the EU INTCEN. Ms Bajada joined the European External Action Service in 2011 where she covered North Africa and the Middle East. She further led the Political, Press and Information Section at the EU Delegation to Chile and before that served as Political Officer in the EU Delegation in Lebanon. Ms Bajada served as Political Advisor to the EEAS Secretary General from 2019 – 2020.
