The 1st essay competition for students and young scientists from Europe and China
Call for Papers
We welcome young students from China and Europe to participate in the competition and explore the following topics:
- “How will exchange programs develop in the future?
- How can curiosity and enthusiasm for the other culture be awaken and strengthened?
- What potential does educational diplomacy have?
- What is the new approach to international and global education?”
Traditionally educational exchange programs act as bridgebuilders between cultures. Taking the renowned Chinese educationist Cai Yuanpai (蔡元培) as an example he was inspired by his extended research stays in Europe during the 1920 to build up a modern Chinese education system. Later Yuanpai was supposed to become the president of the famous Beijing University (北京大学). Similarly, European educational circles were also experiencing a boom of learning Chinese culture.
The foundation of the Confucius Institute in 2004 has opened the way for interested people in Europe to study the Chinese languages and discover the Chinese culture. During the last years the educational and cultural exchange between the People’s Republic of China and the European Union has gained new dynamics. Corporation in culture and education such as the mutual exchange of scientists and students, among those many young talents, has led to remarkable achievements, increasing mutual understand for each others perspectives.
Under the current challenges of globalization, diversification and knowledge-based economy, cultural and educational cooperation between China and Europe has broader prospects and more far-reaching significance. However new challenges shape this corporation.
