Dr. Peter Hefele - Policy Director of the Wilfried Martens Centre
Dr. Peter Hefele is an economist by profession, completing his PhD in 1997 at the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Germany). He joined Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in 2003 as Head of the Department of Economic Education and has since worked as their Head of Division China, South East Asia, India / Team Asia and the Pacific, Director of the Shanghai Office and was the founding Director of the Stiftung’s Regional Project Energy Security and Climate Change in Asia-Pacific. In 2021, he joined the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies as their Policy Director. His main fields of expertise are economic policy, international development cooperation and energy/climate policy. He is an expert on political, economic and social developments in Asia and China.
Dr. Yana Popkostova - Founder & Managing Director of the European Centre for Energy and Geopolitical Analysis, Associate Analyst at the EUISS
Yana Popkostova is an Associate Analyst at EUISS since September, 2021. Responsible for the environmental security portfolio, she investigates the compound security challenges posed by climate change, environmental degradation, and ecosystems depletion, focusing on mechanisms to mitigate and prevent impacts on European security and foreign policy.
Yana is also the founder of the European Centre for Energy and Geopolitical Analysis, an Advisory Board Member of the World Energy & Meteorology Council, and a Trilemma expert at the World Energy Council.
Kira Taylor - Energy and Environment Reporter
Kira Taylor is currently an energy and environment reporter at EURACTIV in Brussels and a freelance journalist and moderator, specialising in EU affairs, politics and energy and environment policy. Formerly a political reporter in the UK and investigative journalist intern with Coda Story in the Republic of Georgia. In 2020, she was shortlisted for the Hugh Cudlipp Award for Voices from Hong Kong
Petra Grech, Treasurer at the IGE, Moderator
Petra Grech is a Policy and Project officer working for EISMEA. She has recently graduated as an International Political Economy student at the Brussels School for International Studies within the University of Kent. By profession, Petra is an Accountant with numerous years of experience within the field of Audit and Accounting in well-renowned global companies. However, last year, she decided to make a career change and instead focus on chasing her passion for policy.
